Preventing Crime and Supporting a Safer Eltham
The Eltham community will benefit from $21,072 in safety improvements to facilities as part of the latest round of Community Safety Fund (CSF) grants, funded by the Andrews Labor Government.
Member for Eltham Vicki Ward MP welcomed the $21,072 investment for 3 projects in the Eltham area, which include:
$5,722.75 for installing an alarm system and roller shutters at the Greensborough Junior Football Club
$3,850 for better lighting at the Research Lower Plenty Baseball Club
$11,500 for a perimeter security fence at the Eltham Men’s Shed
The Labor Government has announced $636,000 for 100 projects across the state through the 2018-19 round of Community Safety Fund grants.
The grants provide up to $10,000 in funding to local councils and not-for-profit groups, for projects across Victoria to help to prevent crime and support people to feel safer and more engaged in their communities.
The CSF grants are part of the Labor Government’s $25 million investment in its Community Crime Prevention Program to improve community safety and prevent crime. This builds on the $19.4 million invested in the program in 2016-17.
The Labor Government saved these grants after the Liberals cut their funding - the Government has a track-record in investing in crime prevention projects that are supported by the community and Victoria Police.
Since July 2015, the Labor Government has delivered more than 650 crime prevention projects and provided more than $2.3 million in Community Safety Fund grants to help support local crime prevention projects across Victoria. Visit, crimeprevention.vic.gov.au.
