3D modelling our trestle bridge
The Eltham trestle bridge is the last remaining timber bridge on the Metro network, and an icon in the local community.
The Victorian Government is getting on with a program of maintenance and renewal, so it can continue to serve Hurstbridge Line passengers reliably into the future.
Using the latest 3D modelling technology, we’re planning future maintenance to this transport icon.
Two of Metro’s service providers (Skand and Pitt&Sherry) have produced a 3D model of the Eltham timber trestle bridge to help Metro plan future maintenance, including priority works, to ensure it can continue to move passengers safely and reliably.
As part of its contract with the Victorian Government, Metro spends $12 million every week on maintenance and renewal across the network, including works to trains, infrastructure and technology.

“I love our trestle bridge - and I know most in our community do too. This will ensure it continues to be a local icon for years to come.”
