Eltham Leisure Centre to become Solar Super Stars!

The Eltham Leisure Centre is the next community facility to benefit from the Andrews Labor Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund. Since its establishment in 2015, the fund has invested $275 million in funding 221 projects, creating 7470 jobs in the process.

Local Government Minister Shaun Leane and Member for Eltham Vicki Ward have today announced that a$270,000 investment will be put towards solar panels for the Eltham Leisure Centre.

As summer approaches and COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, more families will flock to enjoy the popular facilities that Eltham Leisure Centre offers. New solar panels will go a long way in enhancing the centre’s energy efficiency through reducing power bills and saving money for ratepayers.

Sustainability is important to our environmentally conscious locals. We know that solar panel systems are one of many strategies to drive down harmful greenhouse gas emissions. This project and others such as the Greener Government School Building form part of the Andrews Labor Government’s commitment to building more sustainable local communities.

Through investments such as these, the $25 million expansion to the Growing Suburbs Fund will continue its strong record of job creation and investment in communities. After the blows that the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic have dealt this year, the fund provides an important contribution to Victoria’s recovery.
