HUGE BOOST FOR WOMEN’S SPORT IN ELTHAM

Female sport in Eltham, Montmorency and Lower Plenty has received a massive boost, thanks to new funding from the Andrews Labor Government.

Eltham Labor MP Vicki Ward has announced that Petrie Park in Montmorency, Glenauburn Reserve in Lower Plenty and Susan Street Oval and Eltham Lower Park in Eltham, will receive $100,000 each from the Andrews Government to improve their changerooms for women and girls.

This is in addition to the $100,000 already announced for female changerooms at Willinda Park in Greensborough.

The funding comes from the Andrews Labor Government’s $14m Female Friendly Facilities Fund.

Upgrades to tired sporting facilities that have traditionally catered to males are required to support the enormous growth of women’s sport across the state.

Clubs that will benefit from upgrades include Eltham Junior Football Club, Eltham Cricket Club, Eltham Lacrosse Club, Lower Eltham Cricket Club, Montmorency Junior Football Club and Research Lower Plenty Baseball Club.
