COMMUNITY TURNING THE FIRST SOD ON NEW AMBULANCE STATION

The local community will be joining local MP Vicki Ward to turn the first sod on the new Eltham Ambulance Station as work to rebuild the ageing facility gets underway

The new station will incorporate both the Ambulance service and the local MICA unit as part of the Andrews Labor Government’s $20 million dollar investment to improve ambulance stations throughout Victoria.

This great result is in response to the strong community campaign run by Vicki Ward MP, State Member for Eltham, with nearly 1000 names on a petition calling on Minister Hennessy to include the Eltham Ambulance Station in the Government’s ambulance station upgrade election commitment.

The Eltham Station has not been upgraded in nearly 40 years and has long been recognised by Ambulance Victoria as one of the state’s worst branch facilities in need of an urgent upgrade.

“It’s only fitting that the community turn the first sod on this important local facility as it was my local community who helped get this done with such tremendous support for my campaign to support our hard working local paramedics” said Ms Ward.

“Our paramedics are the best trained in the country and I have no doubt they are also the hardest working.  I am very pleased the Andrews Government will be providing state-of-the-art facilities in recognition of the valuable work they do.” Ms Ward said
