GREAT GAINS FOR ELTHAM GUIDES

Eltham Girl Guides and Brownies will get a big boost thanks to a $150,000 grant from the Andrews State Government to rebuild the Eltham Guide Hall.

Eltham Labor MP Vicki Ward has announced a $150,000 funding boost the Community Support Fund for the Girl Guide Hall on Youth Rd in Eltham.

With asbestos in the ceiling, an aged kitchen and toilets, this funding injection will help the Guides bring their hall up to modern standards.

The Eltham Girl Guides and Brownies have met at the hall in Youth Rd, which has had very little improvement in decades.

The walls of the hall, which is in desperate need of modernization, are decorated and painted with murals, painted by Guides, Brownies and their Leaders.

Quotes attributable to Eltham Labor MP Vicki Ward

“Our local Girl Guides and Brownies have wonderful volunteer Leaders who take girls on adventures as well as instilling in them the importance of giving back to their community.”

“Our Guides and Brownies deserve good modern facilities and I’m thrilled the Andrews Government has delivered this funding.”

Quotes attributable to Lyn Glassford, Eltham Guides

“Our hall has been in constant use by Guides for almost 60 years and is now in desperate need for refurbishment with our main aim to remove all the asbestos and then refit our kitchen and bathroom”

“The rejuvenation of the hall will invigorate Guiding in Eltham and hopefully open the hall up to use by other local communities”
