Let’s get safe – Community Safety Fund Open

Do you have a great community safety idea?

Community groups and councils are now able to apply for grants of up to $25,000 to support local crime prevention initiatives.

While the role of government plays an important part of crime prevention, research supports locally based approaches to crime prevention. The grants aim to encourage communities to design solutions to local crime and community safety issues.

Eltham electorate is a well engaged community with some excellent ideas on how to improve community safety. That is why our local Member for Eltham, Vicki Ward is encouraging local councils and community groups to participate in this grants program.

The program is broken down into two streams.

Stream 1 grants of up to $10,000 to support projects which deter offending at community facilities.

Stream 2 grants of up to $25,000 to support education and awareness initiatives which focus on addressing a range of crime and safety issues.

Grant applications must be submitted by Applications close 4.00pm Friday 18 October 2019. For more information about the grants, including the grant guidelines, examples of previously funded projects and a link to the online application form visit www.crimeprevention.vic.gov.au/safetygrants.
