Premier Keeps Kicking Goals at Eltham High School

Premier Daniel Andrews today announced $350,000 for much-needed new terraced seating for Eltham High School.

While inspecting the $4.87m shared sports precinct project currently underway at Eltham High, the Premier told students he understood the importance of the terraced seating and would, with the help of Education Minister the Hon James Merlino, provide $350,000 in funding for the western side of the renovated oval.

Background:

The Andrews Labor Government has provided over $4.87m in funding to renovate the existing oval at Eltham High, relocate cricket nets, build a new shared sports pavilion, put in 6 new shared tennis and 4 netball courts, along with a baseball batting area.  Works are expected to be completed towards the end of 2019.

Quotes attributable to the Member for Eltham, Vicki Ward MP:

“The shared sports facilities at Eltham High will be transformative and bring even more of our community into this fantastic school.  This terracing will be a terrific addition to this project.”

Quotes attributable to Principal of Eltham High, Mr Vincent Sicari:

“We are excited at the announcement made by the Premier, the Hon Daniel Andrews, on Wednesday 21 August, that the school will receive the most needed additional funding to efficiently and effectively complete the Sporting Precinct Project.”

“The $350K that will be added to the project funding will allow the school to complete the most needed teared seating along the side of the newly redeveloped Football Oval.”

“The oval and seating will be used in a shared arrangement by the Eltham High School students as well as members of the Eltham Community.”

“The new seating will support a relaxed atmosphere on site, provide a level of comfort as well as address the area of student and community safety.”

“We are grateful to our local member, Ms Vicki Ward for her advocacy and support throughout this project.”
