Applications Open for Greener Government School Building Program
The Andrews Labor Government has announced the Greener Government School Buildings program to install solar panels systems at Victorian Government schools.
Sustainability is important to our environmentally conscious community. This program will help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and upgrade school facilities to become more energy efficient.
Solar panels are strategic investments that pay for themselves within a few years. This program removes the upfront costs of installing a system that can discourage a school from pursuing this option.
By October 2020, the solar panels installed in schools as part of the pilot will have generated more than 1,300 megawatts of electricvity, reduced greenhouse gases y more than 1600 tonnes and saved schools more than $30, 000 on electricity bills.
Schools can apply for a solar panel system at www.schoolbuildings.vic.gov.au. Applications will close on 7 August.
