Helping businesses survive COVID-19 by expanding the Business Support Fund
The Andrews Labor government has reinstated Stage 3 ‘Stay at Home’ restrictions over six weeks to help slow the spread of COVID-19 in Victoria.
We have all made necessary sacrifices to help flatten the curve and keep our community safe. However, the biggest blow has been felt by hard-working businesses who have had to change their operations to keep their doors open.
That’s why the Government is expanding the Business support fund and providing more than 80,000 eligible businesses with a new $5,000 grant to support them through the renewed restrictions. We understand that small businesses are facing new challenges such as reduced cash flow, lower sales and debt. To support these businesses, the Andrews government will establish a $10 million business mentoring program pairing owners with experienced professionals who can help them navigate the crisis.
Small business owners will also be able to get the support they need to deal with the challenges of the crisis through a $26 million investment in tailored mental health services.
These measures will ensure that businesses in our community can adapt, stay afloat and bounce back on the other side of the crisis.
